District hides student gender identity

Alleged incident in South Orange-Maplewood School District · New Jersey

The South Orange-Maplewood School District updated a policy concerning transgender and nonbinary students. This policy allows school staff to accept a student's asserted gender identity and chosen name without parental consent. It explicitly states there is no duty to inform parents of changes to a student's gender identity or expression, and mandates staff training and facility access based on gender identity.
